Nomination Process
The Lech Walesa Award is presented annually from 2008. The Award can be granted to a person, legal entities, institutions or social movements active for the cause of solidarity, freedom and democracy, which:
• work for the cause of human rights and the rights of the citizen,
• are characterized by openness to others and by tolerance,
• promote the idea of global cooperation based on universal values and respect for all people,
• inspire others to be active in accordance with the aforementioned guidelines.
The Award comprises of a diploma, a medal and a financial prize: 100000 USD. The Award can be granted to one or more laureates.
Any natural person, legal entity, institution, organization, political party or social movement can nominate a candidate for the Award.
A nomination of a candidate should include:
a) name (names), family name, date and place of birth for natural persons, and name of the organization for legal entities, institutions or social movements, if possible, together with further identification data,
b) contact information of a candidate,
c) CV for a natural person or a description of the activities with the agenda of the most important events for legal entities, institutions or social movements,
d) description of the candidate's activity justifying the selection of the candidate.
